It is my understanding that the chakras number from the root or base chakra. That is, the root chakra is number 1 with the crown chakra being number 7.

I hope this helps in sorting out which of your chakras are open or closed.

Thank you for posting this! I have wondered about the different Chakras and what they meant. But, I still have a question as to what their numbers are? I was told that certain ones are more open than others, but was only told by numbers. So, is the Root Chakra the 1st Chakra or 7th? Sorry so stupid about this!!
