The ‘Seeker’ who attains the required level of concentration to open and balance the Sahasrara chakra is said to experience ‘samadhi’ or the pure bliss of inactivity. With the movement of the mind up through the chakras, the ‘Seeker’ has begun to establish a connection to the higher realms of universal consciousness. Opening and balancing Sahasrara allows you to achieve the unconscious-conscious state or ‘asama-prajnata-samadhi’, which up until now has not been possible.

According to some belief systems, the ‘Spiritual’ nature of this chakra, when open and balanced can provide the ‘Seeker’ with imortality within the physical body. This is achieved by halting the downward flow of universal energy and maintaining it within the Ajna chakra. To slow and eventually cease the aging process and to conquer illness, dis-ease and death has been a dream of mankind since before recorded history began.

The chakra now under discussion could be called the centre of communication. It is located in the region of the body where emotional and intellectual powers meet to form sounds through vibration of the vocal chords. It is the throat chakra or alternately the Vishuddha chakra. As with all chakras the Vishuddha chakra has its negative and positive aspects.

Anahata is the central or middle chakra in the 7 major chakras located in the human form. Opening this chakra assists with self-acceptance, the ability to love unconditionally and performs a balancing between the body and mind, male and female and light and dark. A well balanced, open and energetic Anahata chakra provides the Spiritual Warrior with deeply felt compassion, peace and tranquility.

Opening this energy centre will assist the Spiritual Warrior with understanding the laws of nature. This brings enlightenment to further enhance our spiritual being and its connection to the universal consciousness. A person who comes to terms with their own physical shortcomings is better able to progress relationships which are more stable. This chakra encourages you towards servicing others within the physical realm with little or no thought for compensation.

This chakra is oriented toward fulfilling self-gratification on a number of levels and yet connects us to the universe through these very hedonistic sensations. In addition to connecting us to the universal consciousness, this chakra also assists in connecting us to other people via the very tactile responses such as desire, movement and emotions. With this chakra fully open, we can accept our emotional energies, improving the depth of  our empathic nature.

Kundalini Yoga, Chakras and 7 – part 1

There’s that number 7 again. These energy centres all have individual names and attributes. They are connected to musical notes, elements, worlds, mother-power, colours, lotus flowers and deities. These heptads will be discussed in later parts of this article. Suffice to say for now that the number 7 continues to raise its head and hold sway over human consciousness.
