The Fool

Fools have been important in history. In ancient times and cultures, someone whose outbursts or conduct might have labelled them “mad” were often retained by village elders as seers, albeit erratic ones. This became more formalised in Medieval Europe, where the court had a court jester, or fool. The fool had one power no-one else in the kingdom had – that he could voice opinions to the king or in public which would have seen others executed.

The moment to let go

The decision to give it to her arrived in a millisecond, I recognised that it was indeed the time for that crystal to move on. Its mission in my life had been to create that very moment, that gifting. I felt no pang of parting, but the serenity of doing the right thing without judgement or expectation. It was the gift of an adult and a 7-year-old, at the same time.

Spiritual Underpants

Sometimes events put you out of your comfort zone. Or you choose that experience, such as doing training in new knowledge and skills. This is the spiritual equivalent of putting your underwear on inside out. A spiritual warrior, or warrioress, is not afraid to be vulnerable because that state of vulnerability immediately precedes action. It is a state of heightened awareness, it is taking the spear and hunting the leopard naked, as you did in your first initiation hunt.

The wake of the journey

What we do, who we are and how we engage the world is the prow of our lives as we carve a wake through time and space. They are the constants that warp spacetime in our continuum. In our lives we may be aware of the splash as some “event stone” in our lives hits the still water of the pond, but we are rarely aware of the impact of the ripples as the effect grows outwards.
