I believe that it is possible for our animal guides to manifest around us. I had an unusual and unique experience with a dog that I adopted. Read the story below and tell me what you think.

It was probably close to fifteen years ago, I worked as a tech at a local car dealership. It was located on the main highway with a very large wooded lot behind it. I remember seeing a pack of wild dogs coming in and out of the lot. I could see them in the morning cutting through the back lot heading into the wooded area. I didn’t see much of them during the day as they came out after dusk and roamed around at night disappearing during the morning. Some of the dogs had collars on them, some did not. There were about ten to twelve of them, all different breeds and mixes, but one, in particular, stood out amongst them. It was a chow and husky mix with a little golden retriever in it. I used to see him during the day when I made test drives in the area. One time I saw him near the canal along the side street that ran along the side of the dealership, he was looking around. Next trip around I saw him swimming in the canal and he seemed to be enjoying every moment of it. I got used to seeing him around and noticed he didn’t venture far from the wooded area during the day. I had seen him around there for at least two years.
One morning I came to work, seemed like just an average ordinary day when one of the techs came into the parts department where I was standing at the parts counter and said to me that he wanted to move a car in the back lot but couldn’t because a dog was under it and appeared injured. I called our parts manager to come with me. Our parts manager was an animal lover, as she adopted many stray cats and fed them there, it felt like we had a menagerie of cats in our parts department. We went out to the car where the dog was discovered, I could hear it growling in the distance before I got there. No one could get near him. When I saw the dog I couldn’t believe it was the chow mix I’d seen around here before! I came up close to him, everyone warning me to keep my distance, the dog growling in a low warning tone and curling it lips at us. He appeared injured and in a lot of pain. I did not say a thing to the dog, I just stared into his eyes for about a minute and quietly started to talk to him. He slowly came out from under the car and limped over to me and licked my face, and then I gave him a hug and told him everything was going to be alright. Everyone was in shock asking “How the hell did you do that?” I replied, “I just have this thing with animals”, smiled and took the dog over to the parts department.

We took the dog to the local vet to have him checked out. The vet told us that he apparently sprained his left front leg, cause unknown. He estimated his age around four years old and looked to be in good health. The vet gave him a shot and wrapped his leg up. He told us that if we intended to keep the dog we would have to bring him back for his other shots since we had no history on him. We told him that we would put up fliers to see if anyone had lost a dog and would come forward to claim him. We then went back to the dealership. 1
In the parts department, everyone who saw the dog wondered what his name might be. Our parts manager called out “Max” and the dogs head snapped around like he recognized that name, so we called him Max. Max was a little more comfortable after the vet’s visit and seemed to settle in nicely in our parts department. When I came to work in the morning Max would greet me with his tail going a mile a minute, always happy to see me. He seemed to take a special liking to me, more so than anyone else. He also got upset if I left him, I would have to constantly check in on him during the day.
Well, the time came when we had to decide what to do with Max. We couldn’t keep him at the dealership and our parts manager did not have the room for another dog, she had too many animals at home already. I decided to take Max home with me and help nurse his leg back into shape.
I got home and took him inside the house. I have a cat and the first thing the cat did is arch it’s back and hiss at Max as to say “How dare you bring this animal into MY house!” My cat, named Brat, stared at Max, hissed a little more, and then headed for the bedroom. After a few days, Brat and Max seemed to tolerate each other. After that, they would actually play with each other and chase each other through the house, and it wasn’t always Max doing the chasing. Brat was an instigator himself, he would initiate the chases too. I would take Max out on walks on a leash, which he didn’t mind, so I figured he was probably owned and trained by some previous person, how long he was out in the wild, I couldn’t tell. On each walk, he looked like he was improving on walking on his injured left front leg. I would re-wrap his leg every night and he did not mind it at all, but he would let me know if I wrapped it too tight with a little growl, then I would loosen it and everything was ok.
After a few months, his leg was completely healed and nobody came to claim Max, so it looked like he was mine to keep. I took him back to the vets for his shots and checkup and the vet remarked how well his leg had healed.

Ever since the first time I came into contact with Max, I noticed something different about him. I have owned several dogs before since my childhood, but this one was different. Max would come up to me with those wolf-like eyes and just stare at me and I did the same to him. It felt like we were able to communicate with each other just by staring and looking into each other’s eyes. He could detect how I felt if I felt troubled or worried about something he would come over and lay his head on my lap and look into my eyes as if to say, “What can I do to help?” When I felt good, he wanted to be playful. When I scolded him, he would go lay down and growl under his breath as if he wanted to get the last word in. He became my shadow when I was at home, he would follow me through the house never leaving my sight. When I went outside he would carry on like a little baby, upset that I left him. I would have to bring him with me just about everywhere I went.
He loved his walks, and we would go to the park where he would chase the ducks into the water. Then he would jump into the water and swim after them. I knew he loved the water from when I used to see him in the canal at work. One time he chased and swam after the ducks and kept going almost halfway across the lake and I began to worry about him. I have a friend that had a golden retriever years before this and he used to chase a frisbee until he got so tired that he began to flail in the water and almost drowned. We had to jump into the water to rescue him. I feared that this might happen to Max so I called out to him and he just kept going. I had to jump in and swim out to him and when I got to him he just went around in circles around me as if to say, “Hey I finally got you to come in with me!” It was at that point I realized that I had been duped by one smart dog! He loved the water, especially when I joined in with him. We both came home looking like drowned rats.
The one thing about Max that I noticed is that he was extremely protective of our family especially my kids. At about that time my oldest daughter was nine and my second daughter was about a year old. One day my oldest daughter was horsing around with one of the neighbor’s boys in the living room when all of a sudden I heard this yell from one of the boys. I came in and saw Max sitting calmly with the boys arm gently clamped in his mouth. The boy was totally freaked out and said, “Yyyour dddog hhhas mmmy arm in his mmmouth!” I looked at Max and said, “Let go!” and then said and signed with a hand gesture “friend.” He let go, looked at me, then licked the boy’s arm as if to say he was sorry. After that, the boy and Max never had any problems. Other times when someone would want to hold the baby and it was a person that Max did not know he would growl and try to grab their arm. I would have to tell Max that it was alright for them to do it and then he would leave them alone.

We enjoyed many years together. Max was getting older and one day got very ill. I was going to take him to the vet the next morning but never got the chance. He passed away during the night quietly, but something roused me out of a sound sleep, it was like I felt something leaving me. It was one of the strangest feelings I have ever felt. It felt like something died inside of me and then I realized what had happened. I will surely miss Max, he was one of the most interesting dogs I ever had.
It wasn’t until quite a few years later, when I discovered my own wolf spirit, that looking back at this time with Max I realized that I had Wolf as a guide back then too, I just didn’t know it. I also saw the wolf-like behavior in Max, and the possibility of my wolf guide being seen through Max. It might have been a once in a lifetime experience, but you never know. It might happen again.
Blessings and may finding your animal guide be a unique and wonderful journey for you.

Ken lonewolf, thank you for your life experience story. It was meaningful and saddening. I went through the same thing as you did. I’ve always had a way with dogs, they would and still do come up to me as if I am one of their own. My new pup looks up to me as an older brother. I did have the experience like you did. Before my pup, I had another one, but a sister in my eyes. She would be my shadow, following me everywhere. At the time, I was being bullied at school. She could sense that I was upset and would come onto my bed and lay next to me, licking my arm. I knew it was her way of telling me everything it all right which I would show her I understood by looking into her eyes and giving her a smile. I lost her in 6th grade. She was mauled by my husky mix which broke her jaw. We took her to the vet and they said we had a choice, either to keep her over night and it would cost $500 or put her to sleep. I begged my mother to let them keep her over night to fix her, but the Vet said even if you did pay the night, we don’t know if she’ll get better. So we had to put her down. I stood there next to her, grabbing onto her paw, crying because I felt the sensation of something dying inside of me like you had. She was the only one that understood me as well as I understand her. After she left this world, I began to feel her presence within me, giving me wisdom. It was then that I started showing wolf traits. It is why I am seeking if I do have the wolf spirit within me. I will never forgot my sister, she will always be with me.
Hi everyone,
I just got on this page from google, while looking for an image of a hissing cat. I’m sorry, but the 3rd picture labeled hissing cat isn’t a cat hissing, it’s a cat yawning. Just look at how curled the tongue is and you’lll see what I mean.

Thankyou Ken Lonewolf for your touching story, obviously very moving and meaningful experience for you……animals throughout my life have left their paw, claw and hoof prints on my heart…….animals have always flexed my appreciation muscles and taught me the beauty and joy of kindness, playfulness and perhaps more than anything feeling that glorious connection…..many animals that touched my life I know chose me….quite an experience I must say….and how often they reflect as a mirror does ourselves back at us…Ursula
This is indeed a very moving life story. I truly believe that the relationship between human and animal species can be a closer bond than any imaginable. Some animals do not like it when you look into their eyes. I believe their spirit is wounded and does not trust. Once you have gained their trust and you gaze into their eyes it is like looking straight into their soul. This spiritual experience should be forever treasured as not everyone is blessed with such a gift. Thank you Ken Lonewolf for authoring this and sharing your life experience with us all.

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment for my newest guest author, Ken Lonewolf. Ken has shared a significant experience with you, my readers. It is wonderful to see that it has touched so many people.
It is often difficult to recognize at the time that a relationship with a pet or other animal might in fact be a relationship that is life changing. Our guides can manifest themselves in many ways and as humans, Spirit manifest in the 3rd dimension, we naturally seek companionship. Pets are one way that our Spirit Guides ensure that our journey through the 3rd dimension is not a lonely one.

Thank you for sharing Spirit Of A Night Wolf.
Most people have a special attachment to thier pets, they become part of the family and are deeply saddened when they lose them. But when an animal spirit manifests itself in an animal close to you it becomes even more special. It becomes a part of you, not just physically and mentally, but spiritually as well. You can see what they see, you can think what they think, and they can do the same to you. It’s a special bond between you and your pet that many people do not experience. And when your pet departs it feels like a part of you has left with them, and it does. I feel for you because I’ve been there, but remember your spirit will live with you forever if you keep it alive. And never give up hope because it may reappear to you again someday.
My blessings to you,
Ken Lonewolf
I had read so many articles, and one in particular, it was the one about meeting your spirit guide. I did what it said, and i met a Wolf named Rex. A few weeks later, mum got a pure-bred German Shepard named Rex. He was three years old and had a bad past. Rex knew what to do on the first night, he’d check on my older brother, me, my little brother, and mum, every 20 minutes. I remeber one night when i was picking up my little brothers coloring pencil, i scratched my knee on the tip of the pencil, not knowing that i was bleeding. I sat at the dinner table, next to Rex when he laying down. He got up and sniffed my leg, but i was talking to mum, Rex put his head on my other leg where i was not bleeding, i looked down at him, and saw him put his nuzzle on the scratch, where it was bleeding. I petted his head and said thank-you. I washed the blood off. A few months later Rex was stolen and was abused, he came back all scratched and abused. He wouldn’t go outside for a week until one day he went outside and jumped all of the fences. He never came back. I sensed that he was dead, i started to have dog-like instintces and started to double check things and started getting up at night checking if my mum and little brother were ok. I started to see shapes in the clouds like Rex. I had feelings of emptyness. I have so many things i love about Rex, and i cared for him alot, brushing his coat everyday and feeding him and bringing him inside and out. I will never forget him. I believe that i have his spirit, and i believe i have a Wolf totem. I guess what i’m trying to say is i felt the same as u did Ken Lonewolf.
I believe guides can certainly manifest in the animals around us. Your story was very touching and kind of reminded me of that film (with Richard Gere), Hachiko, which remains one of my favorites. Spirit guides have visited me in birds, insects, dreams, and symbols, but to have one like Max is truly a blessing. I had a very close bond with a Golden Retriever at my Mother’s house, who taught me a lot about the importance of energy, body language, routine and patience. Canines just have this amazing ability to teach us things without words, if only we would take the time to listen – a lesson in itself for our human, ego-based relationships.
Ken Lonewolf,
This is such a moving story. Not only because I am such an animal freak and you were so kind to “Max”, but because of the love that you showed him and the love he showed you. Sounds as if your spirit guide was definately talking to Max when you first found him when he was injured. Bless you for being who you are and for sharing such a moving story.
Namaste Holly Jo and welcome to Timberwolf HQ.
Ken has presented us with a wonderful story about how our guides can manifest in the animals around us. I truly believe this too and was touched by the story when I read and edited it.
Please come back and enjoy more of the site. I look forward to hearing from you and sharing in your wisdom.
