Timberwolf
This was very informative and interesting. Hope to hear more about MAKODA and EBONY! Would love to see pictures and hear more about how they are doing!!!
Terry, it is wonderful to hear that you have adopted Ebony. I hope Lonewolf’s comment encouraged the considered decision of your brother-in-law as well as your own. In Australia it sounds like a dream to be able to provide love for a wild-animal and share in its journey. I can’t wait to see some photos. You say her paws have doubled in size! Wolf howls from Down Under to you and your kin.

Well here is an update on ebony. Her paws have doubled in size, she has figured out how to get on the couch and love seat. But other than that she really is a great cub. We have started on her ancoivey balance with her normal meals two times aday. We took her in to get her first set of shots, she did not cry, wimper or wine. which really suprised me. My brother in law decided she was to much for him, he was about to give up on her so my wife and I and my Doberman have all adopted her. Still playing great, although she did bite Nubby one good time and he put her in her place, but other than that she is now part of our family. We will keep you all updated.

Lone Wolf, you truly are a gifted one! Thank you so much for the helpful insites and information. He has named her “Ebony” (Solid Black). She is 100% Timberwolf. (Black Body with Sky Blue Eyes) Like said her agression and distemperment with my Doberman is extremely playful. Also thanks for info on the Red Raw Meat, that has already stopped. The elder man that we got her from said that it would improve there size and digestive system. Also will fish and fish oils help other K9 breeds in the immune system? I will try to post some pictures of her as soon as we get a camera. But once again Lone Wolf and Timberwolf thank you both for all the help and knowledge with our new family member. We will keep you posted as her life goes on.

Thank you for the information you have provided to Terry. I hope that this awesome comment and the knowledge you have shared enlighten their lives and the enjoyment they will receive from their wolf cub.
Thank you
Hey, Terry. My name is Jaden, I’m a friend of Timberwolf’s (Scott). I own a full blooded TIMBERWOLF, named MAKODA, which means, Full Moon. He’s almost 2 years old. Will be, Christmas Eve. I found him when he was only a few hours old, abandoned in the woods & snow. Wolf Parents, ( both, the mother & father ) NEVER ABANDON their cubs, by choice. Apparently, something or someone, had killed Makoda’s parents.
Makoda weighs in right now, @ 150 pounds. Typically, Wolves DO NOT stop growing, until around the age of 2 1/2 – 3 years old. Each individual wolf, is ALWAYS DIFFERENT. In some cases, the males can even top out to be around or between 165 – 180. With the females, they can range, anywhere, from about 120 – 140 pounds, when they afr grown. That is VERY GOOD, on your part, by getting & having the cub ” SOCIALIZED ” soo young ! It does pay off in the long run, but even as it gets older, YOU MUST ALWAYS USE CAUTION, & SUPERVISE THE WOLF, NO MATTER WHAT, & MOST IMPORTANTLY, CONTINUE USING GOOD COMMON SENSE ! With Makoda, who is solid black, with the gold eyes, I started socializing him , right away… getting him used to the different sounds, & noises, different smells, both.. other human contact, besides myself, as well as with other ANIMALS ! I never really had to do much of any kind of ” Training ” with Makoda, for everything seemed to be AUTOMATIC, with him. However, I did chose to also train him, as a WORKING K-9, for my Fugitive Recovery Work, as well as training him for Search & Rescue, among other things. Makoda is EXTREMELY PROTECTIVE of what belongs to him. Myself, of course, as well as our home, my truck.. even though he believes it is his personal vehicle ( lol ).
I also have 3 horses, which he is very protective of & he plays with them, every day. His girlfriend, is a cocker-spaniel. His playmates, range of little yorkies, to mini- drawf rabbits, to a wild squirrel, named Skittles, with who he has to play with every morning & evening ! He is EXTREMELY PROTECTIVE of small children, but especially NEWBORN BABIES ! His ” Paternal Instinct ” kicked in, about this time last year. He believes ALL ANIMALS, especially animals smaller than himself, belong to him. As well as the Human Kind, too. When your cub, howls,or begins to howl, THATS A BEAUTIFUL FEELING ! Each time they do that, especially when they are so young, HOWL WITH THEM.. by doing so, your are encouraging their self-confidence, & you are also enabling a very STRONG BOND, between yourself & the cub.
Even now, everytime Makoda howls, I will howl with him. The 2 of you will also develop your own special secret language, by howling with one another. When I do have Makoda out somewhere, & we’re ” off duty ”, even though I personally trained him, myself, I ALWAYS WATCH HIM,, HIS EYES, & HIS BODY LANGUAGE, as I am also watching the people around him, while they are petting him, or just admiring & asking questions about him. We also try to EDUCATE as many people as we can.
I constantly remind people, ALL THE TIME, yes, Makoda’s cute, yes, he loves to put on a show for a crowd of people ( he’s a ham, especially with camera’s ) he’s well trained & listens, BUT,,,,,, MAKODA IS ALSO A WOLF, & A WILD ANIMAL, 24 / 7 ! HE is more Human & 10,000 times
SMARTER, than any Human could ever dream of being, & he knows it.
He teaches me new things, EVERY DAY ! I NEVER STOP LEARNING FROM HIM ! Now, as they do get older, again, each Wolf, is DIFFERENT. Since I have had Makoda, from day one, until now, I have only had to REMIND HIM, A TOTAL OF MAYBE, 2 TIMES, OF WHO THE ” REAL – BOSS – IS ”, simply by pinning him down, & laying on him, for @ least 5-10 minutes, again, it just depends on the situation. By doing that, you are letting them know YOU ARE & WILL REMAIN, AS THE ” ALPHA ” ! Just as if they were in a Wolf-Pack. The only things that get hurt, when you do this, is their FEELINGS & their PRIDE ! Both times, afterwards, Makoda made me feel soooo bad for doing, that I took him out for ice cream, ( lol ). They will definitely test you, even the females, to see where they stand in the ranking position. And they might even ” test you ” when you least expect it. Thats where alot of people FORGET, about the WILD ANIMAL PART… YOU HAVE TO BE ON GUARD & AT LEAST 2-3 STEPS AHEAD OF THEM, AT ALL TIMES ! Is your cub, 100% WOLF, TIMBERWOLF, or is it one of the HYBRIDS ? Have you named her yet ? The more SOCIABLE they get, when they are babies, the better it is, for EVERYONE, down the road ! Do you live in the country, where she can run & get exercise ? Keep in mind, you must have at least an 18 – 20 foot chain-length-fence, CONCRETED INTO THE GROUND !
WOLVES CAN CLIMB & JUMP FENCES ! THEY WILL ALSO DIG OUT FROM UNDER THE FENCE IF ITS NOT IN CONCRETE ! Makoda is trained both in English, & German, as well as Sign Language, both on & off his leash ! He has his own Badge & Vest. He sleeps in the bed with me. He loves to watch tv. He has had his Own Routine, from day one. They love stuffed animals, & toys. Feed her DRY DOG FOOD, NO RAW MEAT ! RAW MEAT WILL BRING THE WILD ANIMAL SIDE OUT IN THEM. DRY DOG FOOD !!!!!!!!!!! MAKODA EATS THE IAMS DRY FOOD, FOR THE LARGE BREED. IAMS PROACTIVE, IN THE YELLOW BAG.
It has everything they need, vitamins, minerals, very healthy strong bones. Have to get the Large Breed, because you will be able to ride her with a saddle, like riding a horse, if she’s going to be anything like Makoda is. I stand 6′ – 6’1. When Makoda stands next to me, he is even with my waist. He looks like an Over-Sized Black Bear Cub ! He gets free ice cream, when we go through the ” Magic-Window ” (Drive-Thru ), at least twice a week, for a special treat. You can also feed her, like I do with him, 3 – 4 times a week, whatever you want to do, cans of Sardines, in the distilled water, or cans of the Jack Mackral. They love Fish, & it keeps their IMMUNE SYSTEM BUILT UP, & THEIR COATS NICE & SHINY !
The fish oil, also keeps the FLEAS AWAY, TOO ! They still need the Heartguard, once a month, as well as the Frontline. I hope I have been able to help you, or at least maybe answer some of your questions ! The
stories that I could tell you about Makoda, would absolutely BLOW YOUR MIND !!! If you have any questions, at all, & if I can be of some help, please, don’t hesitate to write me, or have Scott get in touch with me.
We wish you the very best with the NEW MEMBER of your family !! Not only is she a BLESSING, herself, but she will also bring & teach you many Blessings ! Makoda sends his Wolf Howls & Hugs, to everyone ! Please take care & Best Of Luck !
Jaden & Makoda
My brother-in-law just recently got a timberwolfe cub. We can’t seem to find any info on how big they actually get in size and weight. Can you please help me. The cubs temperment is wonderful, she plays everyday with my 4 year old Doberman, and has never shown one bit of agression towards any of the K-9’s within the neighbor hood. Should we be worried when she gets older? Also she has started howling some and to tell you it sounds majestic. To hear her howl is truly a spirtual moment. But like I said can you help us with what he should expect when she gets older. Current age 2months 3 weeks and 1 day.
